幼い頃の記憶に、一列に並べたダイニングチェアに横になり、うたた寝をしている父親の姿がある。少しでも寝心地をよくするために座布団を重ねたり、服を枕がわりにしたり、その様子はさながら即席の寝椅子であった。私はそんな”おとうさん”のための寝椅子を考えた。
寝椅子と言えばル ・コルビュジェ、ピエール・ジャンヌレ、シャルロット・ペリアンによるLCシェーズロング(写真)は、「世界一有名な寝椅子」として知られ、人間工学的なアプローチに基づいた座面の傾斜は最高の寝心地をもたらす。
私は幼少期に見た”おとうさん”のために、かの有名な寝椅子の心地良さを家にいながらにして体験できる椅子をデザインした。「おとうさんのいす」は普段は４脚の独立した椅子として使用され、ごく一般的なダイニングチェア然として食卓の周りに 置かれているが、所々に施された切り欠きを組み合わせることで一体化することができる。４脚の椅子は”おとうさん”の手によって合体し、寝椅子に様変わりする。組み合わさった４脚の座面が描くラインはLCシェーズロングの座面形状に一致する。

4. Father's Chair
I have a childhood memory of my father lying down on a row of dining chairs and dozing. He would pile up cushions and use clothes as pillows to make sleeping as comfortable as possible. It was like an improvised sleeping chair.
When it comes to sleeping chair, the LC chaise longue by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand is known as the "world's most famous sleeping chair. The sloping seat, based on an ergonomic approach, provides the best sleeping comfort.
I designed a chair for my childhood "Father" that allows him to experience the comfort of the famous chaise longue without leaving the comfort of your home. The "Father's Chair" is usually used as four independent chairs and placed around the dining table as a common dining chair, but it can be integrated by combining the notches in various places. The four chairs are combined by the "father" and transformed into a sleeper chair. The lines drawn by the four combined chairs match the shape of the LC chaise longue's seat.
